Nelson’s Gin has been created by one man; Neil Harrison. In a world in which craft gins proliferate, Neil was certain that he had both the vision and the palate to create a gin that was exceptional. Having worked extensively as a chef, Neil knew that a pleasing and memorable tasting experience depends on the combination of many factors; from an inspired balance of flavours through to presentation, context and the all-too-elusive creation of ambience; the vital ingredient which owes more to alchemy than any kind of practicality. Nelson’s Gin is made in small batches, to be enjoyed by those who appreciate its life-affirming qualities. It is the only gin made on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire borders, its manufacture being a sophisticated 21st century version of a ‘cottage industry’ Neil spent two years researching and trialling the best combinations of botanical ingredients from around the world, which were going to eventually develop into Nelson’s Gin. Over the two years, Neil attended a local gin school 7 times making 7 batches each time before finally mastering the final secret recipe for what is now Nelson’s Gin No.7
We start with water. And a reed bed.
The reed bed is a natural filtration system. Water flows into the reeded pond and the reeds filter out any unwanted elements. The water is then put through our state-of-the-art resin filtering system where it is scanned and tested before we use it in our gin.
And then. Our work can begin. Infusing fine and pleasingly original botanicals from across the globe, such as lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves from Thailand, vanilla from Madagascar and cinnamon from Sri Lanka, Nelson’s Gin has a clean fresh taste and aroma which is at the same time deeply and surprisingly complex

The perfect serve
Nelson’s served neat, over ice, enables you to enjoy a very clean light and refreshing flavour of lemongrass and lime leaves but with a complex aftertaste of vanilla and cinnamon.
