ALFAMEN, CARINENA, Spain
Made from gnarly old Garnacha vines grown in the Carinena region of North Eastean of Spain. This delicious medium bodied red wine, offers juicy redcurrant aromas with touches of damson and plum. 'Old Vines' give you concentrated flavours, and in this case, Cassies and Black Cherry flavours, smooth and soft on the palate this is a great wine to enjoy with anything from chorizo to chille, and its perfect with barbecued meats and warming winter stews.
These Garnacha vines are on avarage 35 years old, and are planted in a very dry land, with approxamatly only 2,200 vines per hectare for optimum health. At harvest time small batches of these Garnacha grapes are vinified separatley in stainless steel tanks with the sole aim of extracting the maximum flavours from each grape and capturing the Garnacha's full style. The made wine is then left to mature in stainless steel tanks (no wood), for six months, before being bottled.
This easy drinking red wine has 'dark cherry flavours', and soft tannins, with a hint of spice. Best served with poultry, tapas, rice and cheese based dishes or as an aperitif. "An outstanding value Spanish wine for all occasions!" Serve at 14-16ºC
